Teen Car Insurance Amarillo Texas TX

My teenage daughter does not own a vehicle. Do I need to add her to my car insurance policy?

Amanda

Amarillo TX

Amanda,

Once your daughter gets her drivers license most insurance providers will require you to add your teen daughter on your car insurance policy since she will likely operate to your automobile so she will need to have coverage.

Although children are automatically covered on their parents’ auto insurance policy, it is very important that you list your teen daughter on the car insurance policy as soon as she get her license. If you do not add all the licensed drivers in your household on your car insurance policy and the insurer discovers about it later – due to an accident claim, the insurer will bill you for the extra premium you should have paid.

If your daughter will not going to operate your automobile at all then you may check if you could exclude your daughter from the insurance policy. However, if you specifically exclude your teen daughter from your car insurance policy and she drives your car, no insurance coverage will be extended to her in case of an accident. If your teen daughter will get her own car insurance policy, you can show the proof of car insurance to your insurer so you can take her off to your policy.

Discount Auto Insurance Amarillo Texas

What kind of discounts can I get on my auto insurance policy?

Mike

Amarillo. TX.

Mike,

Conversely, if you do decided to change insurers a proof of prior insurance discount may apply. Most insurers request at least 6 months of consecutive insurance from the previous insurer. If you are a full-time student who meets certain grade requirements and are unmarried and usually under 25 years of age (some states the age is 21) you could be eligible for a good student discount. If you own a home, including condominium, town home, or mobile home, which is used as a principal residence, a discount could apply. Military personnel either currently active or retired from any branch of the US military a discount could apply. If your vehicle is equipped with an anti-theft device, a discount could apply.

What is the most stolen cars in Texas and owning one of these cars will it effect my insurance premiums?

Kevin

Amarillo, TX

Kevin,

In Texas, the truck flux is even more striking. Of the top 10 most-stolen cars in the Lone Star State, seven are pickup trucks and SUVs. Other states have their own quirks. Tied for No. 10 on Vermont‘s list is a Ski Doo snowmobile. In West Virginia, the No. 6 and No. 9 spots are occupied by ATVs.

Car theft is one factor driving your insurance premiums: If you have a car that’s stolen more than average, that risk is reflected in the insurance premium you pay.

Great Question.

No matter where you live or what you drive, everyone is susceptible to the dangers of car thieves. So keep your doors locked and do your small part to keep your car’s model off the NICB’s list.

Auto Insurance Amarillo Texas

What is auto insurance needed for?

Mary

Amarillo, Tx.

Mary,

Auto insurance protects you, and others, from financial ruin in the event of an auto accident. It also comes to the rescue if your car is vandalized, catches on fire or is stolen.

And beyond protecting you financially, auto insurance is a social responsibility. Those who drive without insurance, and without the ability to pay for damages they cause, put the rest of us at great financial risk.

That’s why all states (except New Hampshire and Wisconsin) require drivers to carry liability insurance. And even in New Hampshire and Wisconsin, if you choose not to carry insurance you must show that you have enough assets to pay for damages in the event of an accident. A basic auto insurance policy contains six types of coverage. Depending on where you live, some coverages are required and some are optional.

Great Question..

I heard that if a police officer stops you for suspicion of DUI/DWI not to do the field sobriety test or the breathalizer test. Is that true?

Amy

Amarillo, TX.

Amy,

Although it is against the law to drink and drive. Try not to drive alone or at least have a designated driver. If you have to drive there are a few things to know when stopped on suspicion of DUI/DWI.

It is not advised to take the field breathalizer. This machine rides around in a car and get hot, gets knocked around, and then is not calibrated correctly.

Try not to do the field test either. This is the test where you stand on one foot, lean your head back, and say your ABC’s backwards. We have all see this on TV. These test are not required by law.

Don’t say how much you drank or what your drank. Be nice and polite at ALL times . If arrested act confused about your rights. The officer should tell you to ask for an attorney after your rights are given.

Excellent Question.
