Teen Car Insurance Amarillo Texas TX

My teenage daughter does not own a vehicle. Do I need to add her to my car insurance policy?

Amanda

Amarillo TX

Amanda,

Once your daughter gets her drivers license most insurance providers will require you to add your teen daughter on your car insurance policy since she will likely operate to your automobile so she will need to have coverage.

Although children are automatically covered on their parents’ auto insurance policy, it is very important that you list your teen daughter on the car insurance policy as soon as she get her license. If you do not add all the licensed drivers in your household on your car insurance policy and the insurer discovers about it later – due to an accident claim, the insurer will bill you for the extra premium you should have paid.

If your daughter will not going to operate your automobile at all then you may check if you could exclude your daughter from the insurance policy. However, if you specifically exclude your teen daughter from your car insurance policy and she drives your car, no insurance coverage will be extended to her in case of an accident. If your teen daughter will get her own car insurance policy, you can show the proof of car insurance to your insurer so you can take her off to your policy.
