An SR22 auto insurance or financial responsibility certificate may be required in the state of Texas as part of the driver’s license reinstatement process after serious violations such as DUI/DWI, driving without insurance, etc.

Normally, you have to carry an SR22 auto insurance for a period of two years in Texas.

The Texas Department of Public Safety the SR-22 auto insurance is required for a period of two years from the date of the accident, date the judgment was rendered or date of conviction. If you want to learn more about this Texas law, you can check this under Texas Transportation Code 601.056.

If for instance you do own an automobile, you may contact your current car insurance provider and ask them if they offer a non owners SR22 auto insurance. You do need to however purchase the car insurance policy and SR22 auto insurance certificate from an insurance provider licensed to do business in the State of Texas.
